Honda city is a car manufactured by a Japanese car company Honda. It’s been in production since 1981 and is basically a sub compact car. Originally it was launched in 1981 and lasted till 1994. But after 1994 it retired due to various reasons. At that its main market was European, Australian and Japanese markets. But after 1994 it was re launched in 1996 in the form of four door sedan cars and then its target market was Asian countries except Japan. That is the time when this car gained popularity in India too. Honda City has now captured the Australian and Latin American market too. Honda City has had five generations till date. Moreover, Honda City is one of the major sedan cars which have great marketing and production all over Asia. Honda City is manufactured and marketed in major Asian countries like Thailand Malaysia, China, India, Pakistan, Argentina, Brazil, Philippines and Turkey. It is also manufactured in Japan but not marketed there. Since, its launch in India Honda City has been a great success, due to its luxurious interior, low price, good comfort and smooth working it is one of the most preferable cars of the Indian working class.

Honda City is also based on the layout of Front Engine and Four Wheel Drive which basically indicates that the combustion engine is in front while the wheel drivers are on the rear end of the car. On the other hand the body style of the Honda City is that of a 4 door sedan of almost all the generations except for the first generation which was a hatchback convertible. The first generation Honda City lasted from 1981 to 1986 and went by the name of Honda City AA/FV/FA. It was produced in a 3 door Tallboy design having hatchback in variety of trim levels. The second generation lasted from 1986 to 1994 and was known as Honda City GA2 it was not a convertible unlike the first generation Honda City. The third generation lasted 1996 to 2002 and was known as Honda City 3A#, this was the first Honda City to be built and marketed in India and other Asian countries. The fourth generation lasted from 2002 to 2008 and was called Honda City GD8/GD9. This car was locally manufactured in India in the Honda City plant in Greater Noida. The last and the current generation is the fifth generation which was launched in 2008 and is still in the market. It is called by many names but in India it is famous by the name of Honda City Rear.
